Awesome

I haven't really written about the exploits of Sammie in a long time. I always feel like I'm taking advantage somehow. However, my brother told me he read a bunch of editorial columns from my dad when we lived in LA. I asked what they were like and he said it was about us and what we did and said. I really want to read them now.

Tonight we decided to eat fast food after our first thursday, July opening. Sammie pretty much took care of herself for three hours. She socialized, stole cups and a CD from us, spilled yogurt on her shirt, quickly scribbled in the guest book and tried to get into Cafe Bianco while it was closed. We really need to find a first thursdays babysitter.

In the parking lot of the fast food joint, some kid, maybe eight years old, rode by us and Sammie excitedly yelled "Skateboard!" right in his ear. The kid didn't turn to look, just kept on tick-tacking like nothing had been said. Then Sammie said, "Oooh awesome." at which point I started laughing out loud. I don't know where she learned the word awesome. I really did kick that word out of my vocabulary. I'd be less surprised if she said "Shit!"
After we picked up our so called food I was buckling her in her car seat and she said "I said awesome!"

I think that the story you told me over the phone about Sammie's recently discovered foul mouth is so completely blogworthy that I am shocked you haven't gone public with it yet.
